On 19 August 2025, India Alliance has announced B. Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate for the 2025 Vice Presidential election of India. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced this. He is a former judge of the Supreme Court of India and the first Lokayukta of Goa.
B Sudarshan Reddy was born on 8 July 1946 in an agriculturist family in Akula Mailaram village (erstwhile Ibrahimpatnam taluk) of Ranga Reddy district of Andhra Pradesh. He was educated in Hyderabad and obtained a law degree from Osmania University in 1971.
Reddy started practising civil and constitutional matters under the guidance of K. Pratap Reddy, a senior advocate of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. On 8 August 1988, he was appointed as the government lawyer in the Andhra Pradesh High Court and later he also became the additional standing counsel of the Central Government. In the year 1993, he was elected President of the Andhra Pradesh High Court Advocates Association and was also the legal advisor of Osmania University. On 2 May 1993, he was made an additional judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. After this, on 5 December 2005, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
Reddy became an Additional Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 12 January 2007. He retired on 8 July 2011. He then took over as the first Lokayukta of Goa in March 2013, but resigned from the post in October 2013 due to personal reasons.
