moradabad (desk) Rules are being blatantly flouted by not shifting patients from the ICU of Deepa Hospital, raising serious questions about the intentions of the department officials and who is under whose pressure they are playing this double game. The Development Authority, which was awakened by the recent coaching fire, has now returned to its usual slumber. In the name of taking action against illegal constructions and institutions operating without standards, the MDA has merely paid lip service. Initially, officers acted swiftly and sealed four major coaching centers in the city, but after that, the department has become increasingly helpless. The situation is such that many coaching centers continue to operate without any fear in major areas like Stadium Road and Kanth Road.
The officials’ favoritism towards these institutions, while disregarding the safety of thousands of students, has raised serious questions about the MDA’s entire functioning. Deepa Hospital is the most striking and shocking example of this dual nature of the authority. On June 24th, the MDA, with a heavy presence, sealed this hospital, which was operating without an approved map. At the time, tall claims were made that the hospital had been completely sealed. However, even 10 days after this action, the ICU patients admitted there have not been shifted to another safe facility, and the entire hospital system is working flawlessly. When the team arrived at the site to investigate the truth behind this alleged sealing, the officers’ claims were exposed. Despite the sealing, the hospital’s main entrance was wide open, and approximately 15 motorcycles were parked inside the premises, providing clear evidence that the movement of staff and outsiders continues unabated. Patients and their attendants were seen sitting on the footpath outside the hospital. Most shockingly, there was no solid seal or warning sign at the main gate, indicating any restrictions on entry. Although no staff was seen posted at the medicine distribution counter, the entire medical system inside seemed as active as before. After this entire matter came to light, many serious and burning questions are being raised on the working style of the administration that when the hospital was sealed on June 24, then how and under what rules are the patients still present inside even after 10 days. Along with this, there is also a big question that after locking only four coaching centres, on what basis have the remaining illegal institutions on Kanth Road and Stadium Road been given protection.
