Moradabad (Desk): The GST Department team carried out a major raid on an e-waste scrap trading firm, M/S METALS, and uncovered a large-scale fake billing scam. During the investigation, it was found that the firm had been generating bogus purchase bills from non-existent companies to evade taxes. The department compelled the trader to deposit ₹25 lakh as tax during the investigation.The main office of M/S METALS / B.N. METALS is located in Gali No. 1, Ramleela Ground, Meena Masjid, Nagphani area, Moradabad, and the owner of the firm is Haji Bilal. Its branch office is situated at Plot No. H-35, Phase-1, Dasna Industrial Area, Hapur district. On October 30, 2025, the SIB Range-A Moradabad team conducted simultaneous raids at both locations. According to the information, the firm used to purchase e-waste scrap, dismantle it, and extract materials such as tantalum metal, other metals, and plastic scrap. These materials were either sold in raw form or melted into ingots before being sold in the market. The investigation further revealed that the firm had shown purchases from several fake or non-existent firms in previous years to claim illegal Input Tax Credit (ITC). Once the discrepancies were confirmed, the trader voluntarily deposited ₹25 lakh through Form DRC-03.A total of nine officers from Moradabad and Hapur districts participated in the operation. The first team was led by Assistant Commissioner Akhilesh Kumar, while the second was headed by Deputy Commissioner Uttam Tiwari (SIB Moradabad). Both teams jointly verified the firm’s documents, purchase-sale records, and stock. According to GST officials, this action was part of a special campaign against tax evasion and fake billing practices.
