Chief Minister Yogi’s Dream of a Corruption-Free Uttar Pradesh Shattered by Viral Video of Mandi Secretary.

Rampur (Desk): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dreams of building a corruption-free state and has been implementing a strict zero-tolerance policy across the state. However, some officials seem to be challenging that vision.

A fresh case has emerged from Rampur district, where a video of Tanda Tehsil Mandi Secretary Radhe Shyam Maurya accepting bribe money has gone viral. In the video, Maurya can be clearly seen and heard taking ₹500 from a man, putting it on his forehead, and laughing loudly.

When the viral video was brought to his attention, Maurya, speaking over the phone, said, “Come to the office, I will explain everything face-to-face.” When the reporter insisted on getting information over the phone, he replied, “Is it necessary to publish this in every newspaper?”

In his defense, Maurya claimed that the incident took place inside National Rice Mill. He said an e-rickshaw loaded with rice sacks was stopped, and the money seen in the video was taken as a fee for issuing a receipt. However, when the reporter asked if a receipt was issued, Maurya admitted that it wasn’t, saying, “The full payment was not made at that time, so the receipt wasn’t issued. It has been done now.”

This clearly indicates that a government official was collecting money without issuing receipts and only tried to justify it once the matter came to light. Although higher authorities have reportedly ordered an inquiry into the incident, there is concern that the case might be quietly buried under the pretext of “investigation.”

Now, the key question remains — will Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s zero-tolerance policy take action against such corrupt officials, or will this case fade away like many others?
