Rampur (desk) Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav met senior party leader Mohammad Azam Khan at his residence, where he spoke to the media before leaving with Azam Khan for Johar University. From there, Akhilesh Yadav was scheduled to travel to Bareilly by helicopter and then on to Lucknow.Speaking to reporters, Akhilesh Yadav said, “I came here to meet and check on respected Azam Khan Sahab. He is one of our senior-most leaders, a man deeply rooted in the Samajwadi movement. We are all together in this big fight. I wish him good health and justice.”Taking a jibe at the ruling BJP government, Akhilesh added, “It seems like the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to set some kind of Guinness World Record for filing false cases. The maximum number of false and fabricated cases in the country have been registered against Azam Khan Sahab and his family—against his wife, his son Abdullah, and his associates. No other family has been made to suffer so much. This looks like BJP’s world record attempt in harassment.”When asked whether Azam Khan was upset with him, Akhilesh replied, “Senior leaders from the old Samajwadi generation who were with Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) are different; their stature and experience are unmatched.”On the 2027 elections, he said, “The PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) alliance will raise its voice, and the government will change in 2027. Even in the Supreme Court, if judges are being insulted, imagine the condition of common people. I’ve said before in the Assembly that backward classes, Dalits, minorities, and tribals—all feel humiliated in this government.”When asked about local MP Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi’s absence, Akhilesh said, “I came alone today. You journalists shouldn’t decide who should be here. You should instead be worried about how many false cases have been filed. Azam Khan is a pillar of the Samajwadi Party, and I’ve said before—all these false cases will be withdrawn. He was building a university that could shape the future of generations, but some people want to destroy everything.”He concluded, “We are strong for 2027. This time, the public will take the lead in removing the BJP—people will be ahead, and political parties will follow.”
